Description vikdhawan 2006-12-14 17:57:14 UTC
Hi,

When i am trying to download and install the UML modules (all of them mentioned
in the subcomponent list) in my SJSE 8.1/Netbeans 5.5 beta.

I am getting "dependency could not be satisfied" for all the modules and libraries.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks!

I'm confused. Could you please be a bit more clear about what you are doing to
get this problem? Have you been using UML in NetBeans 5.5 Beta and then switch
to use UML in SJSE 8.1 ?

I am using SJSE 8.1, which comes with UML features. there was some problems with
UML features. so i went to netbeans uml website where they explain how to get
daily builds downloads.

I configured that and when went to download the packages in Update Center. it
showed me the available packages for update and when i select those packages it
gives me "dependency could not be satisfied" dialog window popup.

i will try to attach the screen shot of that window with this thread.

Thanks!

Ok, I see now. Are you using the RR version of SJSE8.1 just released? If so, the
latest daily build from the NetBeans update center is still the same as what you
have in SJSE8.1 at the moment. What happens was we just merged the changes we
made in the RR version of SJSE8.1 into the NetBeans UML Module and just made
available in the daily build so the 2 are still the same at this moment.

Please keep in mind that there is incompatibility between the UML for SJSE8.1
and the one you get from the daily build. Reason is that the daily build is
built on top of NetBeans 5.5 while the version for SJSE8.1 is built on top of
NetBeans 5.0 that SJSE8.1 is on. That's the reason you're getting the dependency
issue.

And what problems that you have with the UML features in SJSU8.1 that you
mentioned about? I think this is where we should start.

i have submitted the issues i had in the past. those issues related to the
reverse engineering where class diagrams where now showing the right inheritance
relationship with the super abstract classes.

in the webreports the links were broken. web reports were throwing Nullpointer
exceptions etc.

PS: to give you exact issue numbers, i just tried to find those issues in the
issue tracker by me as a submitter; but cant find them any more.

Thanks!

another thing is when i tried to download the daily build first time i
downloaded it avoiding the error, the side effect of that is SJSE8.1 disabled
the currently installed module, i tried to re enable it and it didn't worked. so
had to remove it in the hope that next time when i will go to update center it
will find the currently working version again.

So right now my SJSE8.1 installation doesn't have UML support, can you tell me
from where i can download the currently working version again so i can bring it
to the original state at least.

Thanks!

Thanks!

Just wanted to clarify. You meant with JSE8.1, generating web report with
inheritance relationship throwing Nullpointer exceptions?
Which version of JSE8.1 are you using, Beta or RR version? You can select
Help->About then click on the Detail tab to see the version. The RR version
should have "Build 2006.12.01".

UML is bundled with JSE8.1. I don't know if there's a place you can just
download UML for JSE8.1. Maybe this is not a good thing to tell you but
reinstalling JSE8.1 will definitely get you back to the original state. If you
have customized your JSE8.1 IDE, reinstalling it should not clear your userdir
for the customization.

Swoitching from "feature" to "enhancement". We use feature for release planning.
