Description Martin Balin 2006-11-22 10:39:20 UTC
[WinXP Pro SP2, JDK 6.0]
Selecting top level component "NetBeans IDE 5.5" in a tree to be installed
does not select all its sub components automatically. Installer say Platform
is required.
Expected behavior of all these tools is that selecting top level to be
installed automatically selects its sub nodes.

Comment 3 Kirill Sorokin 2006-11-22 10:54:30 UTC
Would the expected behavior be to automatically select ALL child components, or
just automatically satisfying the dependencies - i.e. once you select the IDE,
the platform gets selected, but not the optional addon packs?
Comment 4 Martin Balin 2006-11-22 13:36:58 UTC
I've got used to behavior when all sub components are selected automatically.

As per input from different users (based on M09), the issue seems to be more
controversial than before. Postponing till we've gathered enough input to make a
strong decision.

-> TBD

In general in a tree with check boxes if you select a parent node, it means its children should be selected
automatically. The same for unselecting the the parent node.

In the current UI spec there's no parent check box so the issue should not show up in the final version of
NetBeans installer (according to the current state of the UI spec!).

Comment 10 Kirill Sorokin 2007-04-09 11:11:00 UTC
This is by-design in the core IDE, but for the NetBeans installer the tree has
been redesigned as a list, thus this issue does not exist. Marking as fixed (by
replacing the tree with a list).
