Can't install Netbeans 5.5 on Ubuntu 6.10 Edgy via bin installer. Default shell is "dash" (POSIX shell) in Ubuntu. Install Shield uses some "bash only" things _maybe_... Unpacking downloaded tar.gz and running netbeans is the only way. But tar.gz archives are not available for Profiler, Mobility, Ent. & Web packs... Please, provide tar.gz archives for all packages or use less stupid installer for UNIX system. Thanks.
I cannot help with this incomplete info. What error/failure do you get? Linux installer uses #!/bin/sh as shell interpreter which is quite standard I think.
--------- # ./netebans-5_5-linux.bin Initializing InstallShield Wizard........ Extracting Installation Archive. (hang here) # --------- No log, no error message. JAVA_HOME, JDK_HOME and PATH is set to SUN JDK 1.5.0_09.
