Now I have to duplicate and then save. Then remove or otherwise NB freezes.

could you provide more details? I'm interested in exact steps how to reproduce
and  in thread dump of the freeze. You can use the StackTrace Tool to take
thread dump  - http://qa.netbeans.org/bugzilla/generating-thread-dumps.html

configurations rename is implemented now
