Description pknakal 2000-11-24 16:22:19 UTC
[build1159c and earlier] Create directory with JA name and install into it ja
build. Then start Forte. The IDE is started, but no modules are installed.
Installation process of the modules throws exceptions to the Unexpected
Exception window.

Workaround: don't install to the japanese named dir

Comment 2 Pavel Buzek 2001-02-05 17:11:59 UTC
Is it really a requirement to install the IDE in JA named directory?
Cannot we just specify that the name of directory cannot be in JA?

Anyway, seems like the problem is in the URL classloader.

Version: 'Dev' -> 3.2
Comment 4 Jaroslav Tulach 2001-03-22 16:16:55 UTC
Jesse, do you think that the bug could be fixed by your "split loaders"?
Comment 5 Jaroslav Tulach 2001-03-22 16:17:39 UTC
Patrick, please verify if it is possible to install 3.2 into Japanese directory.
Thanks.
Comment 6 Jesse Glick 2001-03-26 16:32:07 UTC
Will assign to Patrik to ask to reproduce.
Comment 7 Jesse Glick 2001-03-26 16:33:46 UTC
Patrik, please check this again. Probably the problem lies in a startup script,
I don't know. Steps to reproduce a similar problem on a non-Japanese machine
would be very helpful. But anyway I agree that installing the IDE into a
directory not named in common ASCII characters is very foolish.
Comment 8 Jan Chalupa 2001-05-05 20:34:38 UTC
Target milestone -> 3.3
Comment 9 _ ttran 2001-10-25 21:48:52 UTC
how can you manipulate with dir named in japanese using shell script?
 Try install JDK under a dir with japanese name and see !!
Comment 10 Ken Frank 2002-09-20 17:05:40 UTC
With latest efforts concerning space in path, we were wondering
if this can be reopened or revaluated to see if multibyte
in name of nb or ffj installation dir can be supported ?
Other parts of nb, where legal in java language or other specs,
allow for multibyte to be in names of various files/directories.
Comment 11 Jesse Glick 2002-12-23 16:36:38 UTC
Consistent use of the I18N keyword.
