appears to be a global checker...

Could it be just descend the tree from the current directory, instead.

To check the whole tree, start at the top of the tree.

To check a branch of the tree, start somewhere on that branch.

May make it easier for developers to use.. so they will use it before they check
in...

Probably could. Basically unmaintained so if you want something quickly, patches
welcome.
