Description Martin Krauskopf 2006-03-18 19:26:20 UTC
Since 'J' in _J_ackport is already used in editor it cannot be used most of the
user's time spent in the IDE. You may consider either Jack_p_ot or Jackp_o_t
which seems to be unused nither by editor, global actions nor as other mnemonic
among menu items.
Probably P4, for shortcut-addictive P3 :). Workaround exist: Alt+b, j.

....Alt-j is used for select identifier in the editor

The editor is violating the Java Look & Feel Design Guidelines, and GNOME
accessibility rules, by declaring shortcuts using the ALT key. NetBeans can't
violate L&F rules just because Emacs did, especially since Emacs was created
before windowing systems were widely available. Besides, doesn't having so many
ALT shortcuts prevent other locales from having standard mnemonics?

But it doesn't matter for this case, since I'm working with the UI team on
eliminating or at least renaming the Jackpot menu. I will make sure that its
mnemonics don't clash with existing uses.

In the meantime, on Windows you can hit and release ALT to select the menu bar,
then hit J.
