In NB 5.0 on Mac OS X (with both 1.4.2 and 1.5.0 JDKs from Apple enabled) in SDI mode, the NetBeans 
Menu Bar (when displayed in the system menu bar with -J-Dapple.laf.useScreenMenuBar=true) disappears 
when any window but the toolbar window has focus. This means you can't invoke any menus from, say, 
the editor.

(Tested with Mac OS X 10.4.4 and JDK 1.4.2 and 1.5.0)

You got a screenshot?  I can try to duplicate it... I'm not sure what you mean, don't have any problems 
along this line.
