[ BUILD # : 200509221800 ] [ JDK VERSION : 1.5.0 ] I had to change the name of one of my classes, so the IDE helpfully reminded me that the class should be in an appropriately-named file. I was not unable to rename the file from the IDE because there is no option (at least, no by-default visible option) to 'save as' a new filename. This is functionality which is present in just about every other IDE I can think of and I'm quite surprised that it doesn't appear to be there in netbeans.

In this case you should use refactoring to rename the class. In this way class na e, constructor and file name are changed properly
