I wanted to change the LookAndFeel of Netbeans 4.0 IDE to MetalLookAndFeel.
I gave IDE Startup Parameters to change the LookAndFeel in                      
IDE-HOME/etc/netbeans.conf file as below. But the LookAndFeel never changes.
I tried two options, but both doesn't seems to work.

1.) --laf javax.swing.plaf.metal.MetalLookAndFeel
2.) netbeans_laf="javax.swing.plaf.metal.MetalLookAndFeel"

The first option works in Netbeans 3.6, but does not work in Netbeans 4.0.
Kindly look into the issue and please provide a patch in Netbeans Update Center 
as soon as possible.

Should be -laf, not --laf. See:
http://www.netbeans.org/kb/faqs/configuration.html#FaqCustomLaf
