Apparently I was a bit too cavalier. I went to the CVS profile in tools/options and checked the options so that add and removing a tag would have output. Now, CVS "updates" finish immediately without error and do nothing. Commits fail to show those handy ---CVS lines. Basically, CVS is broken. There are no messages in the message.log. Using one file as an example, a refresh shows that it needs a patch, but after the update it shows as up to date. However, the file will not be changed and status will show the version has not changed. Doing the update puts two sets of files in my % HOME%\.netbeans\4.0\config\vcs\running directory. The second set has all 0 length files. One of the files in the first set has this in it: project.properties / Up-to-date / 1.5 / / / / / /null/ However, the latest repository version is 1.6. There are no sticky tags or anything. All my Versioning filesystems are behaving like this. The workaround is to delete the cvs.xml file. Do the same edit again and it will fail exactly the same way. This was easily reproducible on all 3 machines we tried it on.
