Description Jeri Lockhart 2004-03-03 20:59:04 UTC
Description:
This bug was found during arrow blitz by internal customer:
The user tried to import the setting from studio 5 to studio6.
After entering user dir :
/home/anamika/studio5se_user,
the import wizard shows an error message saying that the directory is not a
valid studio directory.

Using BugBridge to transfer bug to CDP. This bug needs to be fixed in core on
branch release351A and trunk. This bug is similar to
http://www.netbeans.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=32357

More info from Jan Chalupa:
It seems that the release id string is hardcoded in the
core/ide/src/org/netbeans/core/upgrade/CopyUtil.java file.

This file seems to include both, the table of release ids as well as the userdir
checking and copying logic.

The item in the bug about the displayable text in the wizard will be done in the
closed source core branded module by me (Jeri Lockhart)

Need to have fixed before next Arrow RC build (Wednesday, March 10, 9:00 P.M. PST)

I add new string to CopyUtil to enable import from previous versions:
Sun ONE Studio 5, Standard Edition
NetBeans IDE 3.5
NetBeans IDE 3.5.1

Jeri, please could you assure if these string are enough or I missed
any other product name? Thanks

Thanks, both products has the same product name "Sun ONE Studio 5,
Standard Edition" which is contained in a patch. The attached path
arrow_branding_fix40743.diff is ready to be integrated in release351A
branch. (I'm not sure what target milestone can be set I leave it TBD
for now)

Hi Jiri,
Karthikeyan Rajeswaran of the sustaining group is working on this bug,
He was asked to work on it by Pavel Suk and Prakash Narayan.

Could you please coordinate with him on the patch.
Thanks,

The changes are branding specific and therefore not relevant to netbeans.
