[ JDK VERSION : J2SE 1.4.2_02 ] Only when using Metal l&f (or derivated): Closing the last editor window doesn't refresh the desktop. The impression is that it didn't close.
Reassigning to core/window system.
It works OK for me here on Win and Linux. Reporter, please reopen with exact OS info, exact reproductions steps and information whether this bug is random or appears always. Thx.
Confirming this on Windows 2000 using JGoodies. Do you think Dafe it's not NetBeans' problem ? If so, shouldn't this be rather closed as WONTFIX ?
I think it might be problem between winsys and LF, hard to guess. Please advice me how to install JGoodies into netbeans so that I can reproduce and fix. Thx.
On Windows XP works OK. Even if it didn't wouldn't be a problem since XP L&F looks good. The problem is that it happens in Linux, where Metal L&F is the default. I'm using Mandrake Linux 9.2, KDE 3.1. It also happened using kunststoff L&F. I also have a screen snapshot where you could see a mistaking editor with the tab colored as active, whereas the active window is the project pane. http://www.turro.org/xprepository/netbeans/snapshot.png
Oops!! I was trying to reproduce it using Metal L&F and I couldn't. It is Kunststoff L&F!!! I apologize for any inconvenience caused. I also moved priority down to 5 because there was not P500.
I raised priority back to P3, product could look embarassing with such bug, it can be annoying - users will think that close didn't work at all, as you said.
This was reported elsewhere, and I've added code to revalidate and repaint in the case the last component is removed. Probably this issue can be closed as fixed.
Well, I'd have to check that it's really fixed before I can close.

http://www.incors.com/lookandfeel/try.php Fill out form, email will get sent to you with license code and download url, which is http://www.incors.com/lookandfeel/download.php ;) . Then add alloy.jar to lib/ext, and -J-Dalloy.theme=glass -J-Dalloy.licenseCode=2004/03/27#mick@machina.no#de17u9#198g0l -ui com.incors.plaf.alloy.AlloyLookAndFeel to ide.cfg, subsituting your license code. (theme is optional).
Hi David, it isn't fixed. In build 200402261900 still happens. I use Kunststoff.
Great Lluis, thanks for info. Tim is liar! :-)))
You're right - the whole component gets closed, so it's not there to repaint itself. This fix should go into Central.userClosedTopComponent or Central.userClosedMode - I'm not comfortable enough with all of the layers of stuff here to know exactly what should be told to repaint, though.
Will this get fix in high-resistence phase? (Raise priority or use keyword)

dafe, maybe this could be fixed by our latest changes associated with the sliding windows? but not really sure..
re-evaluate please ...
I finally managed to check that current netbeans build works OK. As Milos said, this bug was fixed, probably along with other repainting issues we solved during sliding windows work.
