build 200401221900 Dialogs: 1) Deployment Progress Monitor (appears after F6 on a JSP) 2) Server Status dialog (appears in Runtime window on Tomcat Server instance -> Start/Stop Server) have shared checkbox "Automatically close this window shen finished."
I think this is not a bug.
I think it's usability bug. When you set it on/off in one dialog, you will be quite surprised that it applies also to another dialog. I can't find any good usability reason for this behavior. If you have one, please tell me.
But these two dialogs have very close meaning. So we can think that if someboddy wants to autoclose dialog for execution jsp and starting tomcat then he will want to autoclose dialog for stopping tomcat.
You are both right. One can consider this as a bug, other as a feature. My opinion is that this is still the some dialog used from various places for very similar purposes which are deeply related. I suggest to close this one since there is a lot of more important bussines to be done. Karle, if you want, please change it to enhancement and we can discuss this one later.
Yeah, I think I understand your arguments now. They are right, but still I think it's at least good for discussion in the future. I'll try another one argument which plays for me -- it's an implication, not equivalence from formal point of view: If you uncheck autoclose in deployment dialog it implies you want it unchecked in Start/Stop server too. But if you uncheck autoclose in start/stop server dialog it doesn't necessary mean that you want to wait for every deployment of your servlets modification (in case that server's already started). Setting to Promo-D, downgrading to P4 and changing to enhancement as suggested Marek. If it should take too much discussion and no any consensus in the future I'd prefer to close it as invalid, because it's not so important.
This old bug may not be relevant anymore. If you can still reproduce it in 8.2 development builds please reopen this issue. Thanks for your cooperation, NetBeans IDE 8.2 Release Boss
