Description David Strupl 2004-01-09 21:45:50 UTC
Actually more spam than the real content. I had to
dig in all those penis enlargements to read the
governance board discussions.

Oop, sorry, my fault, I somehow missed this issue.

In issue 25840 Collab report that SC v 2.0 and up have the ability to
remove msgs from the list archives. We are still using SC 1.1.3, but
are due to upgrade to 2.6 ... well, sometime soon thouhg the schedule
has already slipped ~4 months.

I don't believe it is worth asking Collab to manually do this in the
meantime - my guess is they would consider it one-off non-contractual
work and charge us $ for it (and take a long time getting to it).

Also note that Collab have recently impmlemented a spam filtering
soloution, though it is still "learning" and not completely effective
yet. We are holding off on announcing that until it is working
properly. See issue 24026 for details. Hopfully that will cut down
the amt of spam reaching the archives in the first place.

So, for now closing this as a dup of 25840, since that is the issue
that discusses the long term soloution that will allow us to remove
the msgs from the archive ourselves. If you don't think that's
reasonable, pls reopen with details. Thanks.

*** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 25840 ***

Thanks for the info. I just wanted to know whether someone is paying
attention to the fact that the archives (or some mailing lists if that
matters) are in fact unusable. Definitelly I don't want you to pay
more money to collab. Best, David.

We recently moved out from Collabnet's infrastructure
