Description Peter Zavadsky 2003-09-16 17:25:48 UTC
There is necessary to create document which
describes differences from the older SDI
implementation
Comment 1 Peter Zavadsky 2003-09-22 09:00:52 UTC
Consider the following changes:

- In one mode container (separate frame in SDI) can't be component in
more places (like used to be explorer+properties, two TopComponents in
one container).

- There also a plan to have only one status line also for editors,
such status line will be at the bottom of main window, which is
completely fine for MDI, but it would seems somehow bad in SDI, what
to do with this?

... add also other differences if you remember.

The high level overview of differences between old SDI and new SDI
("separated windows") windowing system modes:

- new SDI mode has window sets instead of workspaces (for description
of window sets read the winsys ui spec)
- it is not possible to split a window, except the editor window
- it is possible to split editor window using DnD

Hmm, this info must be merged into some migration guide for module
writers. Do you plan to do it?
Comment 4 jrojcek 2003-10-15 17:34:11 UTC
Okay, so I mentioned SDI in the windowing system UI spec.

I have also put the migration guide on the web, but it doesn't contain
much SDI specific info. I would add more info into this document if
there is any specific demand for doing it.
