When I add (CVS) into Project->Sources
I found I can't use CVS actions/command at all:-(

Later I found I could use it only on files because
CVS popup menu is available only on nodes which
representanting files.

How could I update my sources? Imagine I have cvs
co sources of the NetBeans itself and performing
update on each file individualy it is impossible !

This is at least P2 because I can't update whole
dir structure, but I decided to mark it as P1
'casue I can't update 2 selected files from one
folder either ! :-(((

So the CVS is almost unusable in Projects-branch
of NB40 :-(((
Comment 1 Martin Entlicher 2003-08-19 13:01:53 UTC
In the Explorer of [This Computer], there are CVS actions on folders.
But in the [Projects] there are no filesystem actions.
I agree that this is quite annoying.

Moving to projects for evaluation, I'm not sure who is the provider of
folders in Projects tab.
Comment 2 Vitezslav Stejskal 2003-08-19 13:26:38 UTC
The Files View once fully speced and implemented should help with VCS
management.
Comment 3 Martin Entlicher 2003-08-19 14:12:13 UTC
Well, it's not just about VCS actions. It's in general about
filesystem actions. Thus not presenting filesystem actions in Logical
View is intentional?

In the latest projects UI spec, there is: "It should be that objects
in the Logical View maintain at least rudimentary VCS actions."

I do not see a reason, why folders should not have filesystem actions.
How will I e.g. refresh a folder (I mean LocalFileSystem here)? Will
the user have to constantly switch between Logical and File view?
Comment 4 Vitezslav Stejskal 2003-08-19 15:38:43 UTC
Just for the record: The 'refresh problem' is filed as separate issue
#32901. Its solution is likely to affect whether we will expose
filesystem actions everywhere in the logical view or not.
Comment 5 Chris Ledantec 2003-10-20 11:39:57 UTC
again, i agree that this is a problem but there doesn't seem to be
anything i can do about it...
Comment 6 Vitezslav Stejskal 2003-11-24 14:39:55 UTC
As described in
http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=619519&listName=nbdiscuss
the current work on projects prototype has been stopped.
