When I upgraded from Sun One Studio 4 update 1
Community Edition (build 020923), the first time I
invoked the IDE as specified for the installation
from .zip a NullPointerExeption occurred and the
error message requested that I report this
problem.  Subsequent invocations of the IDE did
not cause a NullPointerExeption.  I have not
noticed any other undesirable behavior.

   This problem is very similar to the issue with
ID 17488.

   You would get more and better error reports if
the error message contents could be copied to the
scratch pad.

It is Swing/JDK issue. See
http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=4959489. Fixed in
JDK 6.0.
