I'm sorry but I do not understand what
IdeProject's methods add*Wizard and are for:

The class seems a bit undocumented.

Agreed, the javadoc should defintely be better. In the meantime the
add*Wizard methods can be used to show the wizard which allows user to
add files in the project (including all the machinery with recognizing
natures specific stuff, etc).
