Problem description: With compination: - new laptop Compaq EVO N1020v (2.4 GHz, 768 MB memory) (tested with two totally new items!, so this is not hardware problem) - the newest ATI driver from Compaq's http-side (I think this is a problem, prosessor is too quick!!) - XP professional - Netbeans 3.4.1 zip-version (same poor result with Sun Studio One) Done: - XP just istalled with new drivers - If you unzip netbeans, start it, e.g. open help and close help, shut netbeans with exit (no other programs need to be opened at the same time) Now XP collapses absolutely, only button-boot helps. -Ari-
We need more info: like JDK you use, ....
I am almost certain that this is a bug in JDK or in the way how it interacts with WindowsXP/ATI graphics driver. The problem has been fixed in the latest stable release of JDK 1.4.1_02 (released a few days ago). Its release notes contain a list of bug fixes http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.1/ReleaseNotes.html
Trung is right - verifying.
