When I try it, using the default appletviewer configuration, inserting System.err.println`s and so on have no effect--nothing shows up in the Output Window. No apparent log window in the appletviewe
r itself, either, unless I missed it. If it is not impossible to grab output, this must be documented in the User`s Guide under Output Window or Applet section.

Verified with build 020318 under Solaris8.
