I downloaded the 3.4 zip file for Windows,
unzipped it to C:\, and execute
C:\netbeans\bin\runide.exe. The splash screen
displays and then immediately a window pops up
with title "Unexpected Exception" (see attached
screenshot). The same repeats with runidew.exe.
I've attached tthe ide.log file as requested in
the error window. This repeats all the time.

OS: Windows NT (4.00.1381, IE 5.6.0.2600.0000).
Don't know what processor, but maybe someone can
decifer this: x86 Family 6 Model 8 Stepping 6.
