Description syedbilal07 2017-09-26 12:10:40 UTC
Hi, i have been using Netbeans with JDK 8.0 Update 144 since a long time without any issues. Yesterday, i updated my JDK version to 9.0 and uninstalled JDK 8.0. I have also set "jdk_home" path in Netbeans etc folder to my JDK directory but whenever i open Netbeans, the tab is not working means when i create "Create A New Project", nothing happens. The "File" option not working. I installed JDK 8.0 today and set jdkhome to JDK 8.0 directory and it started working. Also whenever i try to uninstall Netbeans with JDK 9 set as my jdkhome, it shows me error that "Java SE Development Kit Was Not Found On This Computer" whereas i have checked jdk version on CMD and its fine. What is the resolution of this issue?

I have the same problem. The Netbeans app/platform itself seems to have a problem with using Java 9 as the JRE.

Is there a workaround to force NB to use Java 8?

Installation of the 201712270002 build has resolved the issue.

There is a workaround to use Java 8 with Netbeans but we need to wait for Netbeans 9 Stable release to be fully compatible with JDK 9 because Netbeans 8 is not comptable with Java 9. Thanks @tchubs for pointing out the release builds but i would only use it when a stable build is released.! :)
