Netbeans log with cache folder creation stack trace.

Overview:
When working with a Maven project in Netbeans, I occasionally get an error where many, or infinite alerts open. This is generally not connected with any specific action but is often correlated with opening a new file, or, less often, with saving a change.

The issue manifests with pop ups that say something like "Cannot create folder s165 in folder /Users/33070/Library/Caches/NetBeans/8.0.2/index.". The next time the issue occurs, if I remember in time, I will try to take a screenshot before killing and restarting Netbeans. Sometimes I can simply close the 10 or so popups and continue working, but often the popups open continuously one after the other. Eventually they open so fast that the message does not even have time to render. In this case, I must force quit the application because quitting normally is not possible.

When the message in the popups are readable the message is the same with the exception that the folder name increments with each successive popup.

I've checked my Caches directory and it appears that Netbeans has been able to successfully create similarly named folders minutes or seconds before the issue occurs.

Steps to reproduce:
Non-deterministic.
1) Open a file.
2) ???
3) Profit
Sorry I can't be more specific here. I will try to give a tighter description of what I was doing the next time this happens. I don't remember what I was trying to do this time.

Actual results:
Application becomes unresponsive due to 90's style infinite popups.

Expected results:
No popups.

Build date, hardware, etc:
Product Version: NetBeans IDE 8.0.2 (Build 201411181905)
Java: 1.8.0_102; Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM 25.102-b14
Runtime: Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 1.8.0_102-b14
System: Mac OS X version 10.10.5 running on x86_64; UTF-8; en_US (nb)
User directory: /Users/33070/Library/Application Support/NetBeans/8.0.2
Cache directory: /Users/33070/Library/Caches/NetBeans/8.0.2

Additional builds and platforms:
Was definitely happening on other combinations of Netbeans 7 and OS X 10.9 at the very least.

Other notes:
Please note I've performed a find and replace of my client's name in the log with <client name obfuscated>. Hopefully I found them all >_>

Also note that I've been seeing this issue for over 2 years on various versions of Netbeans and on multiple Macbooks with different versions of OS X. I simply haven't had time to file a bug report until now.

Screenshot of inifinite pop-ups

It happened again this morning. I opened Netbeans for the day and the issue occurred when I switched tabs in my open files for the first time. I started in an html file and moved to a Java file.

The screenshot is cropped closely because I had a lot of client specific information up on screen at the time. I'll see if I can take a more complete picture and redact my client's info next time.

Hi,

I know this was posted quite a while ago, but try restarting Netbeans. I have run into this issue a few times and that has always worked for me.

I also have that problem, and I did not know how to solve it. Until I realized that in the folder Caches / NetBeans / 8.0.2 / index, the folder (NetBeans) did not exist, simply create it manually, restart the application and, once it is restarted, NetBeans automatically creates all the folders inside from the folder ../indice/ (s1, s2, s3, s4, s5).

Thus the error disappears.
