Netbeans log file

The main problem is that I have no Plugins option in the Tools menu, so I cannot install or manage plugins.

This bug has been reported before, or at least similar ones have, but there doesn't appear to be a resolution that I can find, other than deleting the user dir and restarting netbeans. (see bug 247299 and bug 251120 as two examples)

This issue appeared after a system update updated netbeans. I am using OpenJDK. The update required me to switch to OpenJDK version 8.

Other than not being able to manage plugins, netbeans seems to be working fine.

I'd rather not lose my personal settings, especially as netbeans is usable at the moment.

The full output of the error I receive on start follows. It appears in a dialog allowing me to click 'Disable modules and continue':
