Created attachment 158230 [details] I was told to upload this - see other picture Over the last half an hour, NetBeans has warned 5 times for a few few-seconds delays, but this does not reflect the fact that the IDE itself from the user perspective has been completely locked up and COMPLETELY UNUSABLE for the last half an hour. All I was doing was loading a medium-sized real-world C++ project. This IDE is becoming completely unusable. These performance issues are VERY HIGH PRIORITY. Over the last few versions of the software, NetBeans has had all programming resources devoted to new (non-C++) updates and features while completely missing this very serious issue. There is a serious issue if the IDE categorises 26 second delays as LOW priority. The same computer used to have Windows and Visual Studio which ran fine. It now has Linux and NetBeans and completely chokes to a point such that I cannot even code in my project anymore. This performance issue will cause me to abandon this IDE if unfixed. Also this error reporter keeps failing so you're probably missing out on all sorts of performance issues from lots of frustrated NetBeans users who probably just gave up. I'm just running Firefox and NetBeans at the same time, nothing else. This should be a standard use case.

Thanks for your report and attachments. 1) it looks NB has not configured proxy settings and it can cause hangs (from my experience) even on start up 2) when you face slowdown it's always very helpful to provide profiling snapshot for analysis http://wiki.netbeans.org/FaqProfileMeNow and the most important problem: - you use VERY old DEV version of Netbeans Could you, please, try NB 8.1 with the updates (for that you should solve 1) Thanks! Vladimir.
Proxy settings are at Tools->Options->General
