Tabs don't stop converting to spaces unless the number of spaces per indent and tab size are both set to 8. If both are set to 4 spaces are still inserted. This is maddening!

Looks like it works (for me) if it is set to the same number. It was adding spaces after the third tab, so it appears to work...at first. We don't use spaces at all and are very strict about not having spaces for indents. Thanks in advance to the person who found that out.
