The "Sample REST Application" is broken and old and takes up space, while probably no one is making use of it. I have rewritten the application a bit and put it on GitHub and described that here:

Please delete the sample application from the IDE, better to not include something that has old code, e.g., layer entries instead of annotations for TopComponents.
