A recent Firefox update (36.0) on Ubuntu has broken the debugging of projects. Previously, clicking 'debug project' in a php project would open a new tab in an existing Firefox instance, complete with url and the xdebug session parameter. Since the Firefox update, a new instance of Firefox is opened without the url or xdebug parameters (the Firefox start page is opened). Also, the IDE states that it is waiting for a connection. To confirm it is not my machine, I did a complete reinstall of Firefox including all plugins and updated to the nightly netbeans build. I'm not sure if it's a problem with netbeans or Firefox. But I guess the Firefox API may have changed. A workaround is to use the chrome browser. Personally I don't think it's suitable for development (lacks the firebug plugin).
Forgot to mention, adding the xdebug parameter to the page url will allow netbeans to connect (as another workaround). ie. http://example.dev/?XDEBUG_SESSION_START=netbeans-xdebug
This is weird. I cannot reproduce your issue so please verify how Firefox is configured in your IDE Options - see issue #255067 for more information (shortly: no "-remote" parameter should be now present for Firefox command).
