When in Git commit window, you can right click on a file and use the context menu to open the "Diff" tab which looks like any standard diff output element.

Now that you can get a full diff by de-selecting all files and clicking on the output window to request it, it would be neat if the diff tab would be opened by default with no selection or have a button to open it that way.
