Issue 19156 talked about Term not having shortcuts for moving left and right. for a while that bug was treated as a tip'o the iceberg for all lack of shortcuts for the Term/OW combo. Most of that is taken care of but managing the selection isn't done yet. Since I"m closing that issue I'm opening this one. The plan of record until recently was as follows. Unlike JText the cursor in Term plays no role in the boundary of the selection so a new cursor, a vertical line, has to be invented. Normally it will hide beneath the regular cursor. As soon as you use a shortcut to manipulate the selection it separates and works per JLF2 p259. The only problem with this is removing the selection, (sending the selection cursor "home"). There is Ctrl-\ to deselect all however it's the keyboard sequence that on unix generates SIGQUIT and that won't be very good. An alternative proposal hasfor a modal scheme not unlike Microsoft Windows console, but I haven't fully investigated that. Another model might be what Gnome has adopted for it's termulators, but I haven't found out what that is yet.
Target milestone was changed from '3.4' to TBD.
