This Bugzilla instance is a read-only archive of historic NetBeans bug reports. To report a bug in NetBeans please follow the project's instructions for reporting issues.
This bug was originally marked as duplicate of bug 244318, that is already resolved. This bug is still valid, so this seems to be another bug, but it might be related. The problem is that modules org.netbeans.modules.masterfs.windows and org.netbeans.libs.jna are not compatible after the update. Module libs.jna is in version 1.38.1, which is correct; module masterfs.windows is in version 1.11.1, but should be 1.13.1. I tried to reproduce the bug, but the update worked fine for me. I'm not sure what caused this problem. Can you please check whether the module was actually updated? (See file <nb-install-dir>\platform\update_tracking\org-netbeans-modules-masterfs-windows.xml.) Could you also try deleting the cache directory? (On Windows 7 it is C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Local\NetBeans\Cache\8.0.) Installing fresh NetBeans 8.0.1 will certainly solve this problem, as it is related to update center. Closing for now. If we have more information, we will try to investigate what went wrong. Thank you for reporting.

Jarda, 300 reports all on Win7 ... do we must to take care of this issue ... please re-evaluate ASAP.
There are more modules of incorrect version, not only masterfs.windows. It seems to be some problem with update center. Did you try to rerun the update (Tools -> Plugins -> Updates -> Check for Updates -> Update)? Did it help? Can you please attach zipped log folder (usually in C:\Users\usr\AppData\Roaming\NetBeans\8.0\var\log), which contains updater.log files and message logs? Thank you.
Problem solved for me after a second run of the update.
(In reply to alessandronip from comment #16) > Problem solved for me after a second run of the update. Can you attach here the folder with logs? It could really help us. <userdir>\var\log Thank you
Created attachment 149424 [details] Zipped /var/log directory containing updater and messages logs from Bruno Salmon.
My installations are in Windows, where are the logs?
Both updater and messages logs are stored in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\NetBeans\8.0\var\log\ directory. If you can please ZIP that directory and attach here. Thanks!
Thanks, I just had to rerun the update and it got fixed.

It isn't fixed .. please do not change resolution, it's up to developers to do so.

Created attachment 149525 [details] Zipped /var/log directory containing updater and messages logs from Grant Langdon. More information from Grant Langdon: I'd like to note that after I first installed NB 8.0 with JDK 8 (bundled) everything on netbeans worked fine, but then I realized I needed JDK 7u67. I didn't realize there was a bundle with this, so I installed seperately, and netbeans didn't work at all; I assumed this was because netbeans wasn't pointing to the newly installed JDK. I got the error message after I worked on getting netbeans to use JDK 7u67, which allowed netbeans to seem to work a little better, whenever I tried to open anything. After sending the report to you I realized there was a bundle with NB 8.0.1 and JDK 7u67; I installed it and everything works perfectly now. I wanted to note this since it seems either your team fixed the issue in the update to NB 8.0.1 or a simple fix is to just make sure you download them as a bundle.
(In reply to Jaroslav Havlin from comment #15) > There are more modules of incorrect version, not only masterfs.windows. > It seems to be some problem with update center. Reassigning to platform/Autoupdate. Libor, please evaluate. Thank you.
Fixed (hopefully) in release801 - http://hg.netbeans.org/releases/rev/9c476f59c46f
core-main - http://hg.netbeans.org/core-main/rev/86ff69a4de48
Integrated into 'releases/release801', will be available in build *201409300841* or newer. Wait for official and publicly available build. Changeset: http://hg.netbeans.org/releases/rev/9c476f59c46f User: Libor Fischmeistr <lfischmeistr@netbeans.org> Log: #246971: Incorrect version of masterfs.windows after auto-updating to 8.0.1
Jardo, reassigning to you, because it's all caused by that provider (org.openide.modules.jre.JavaFX) added to MS API (changeset http://hg.netbeans.org/releases/rev/09fc30e29401 in core.startup module). Unfortunately the fix I've created cannot work, because the autoupdate module depends on MS API and then it cannot be updated, because with MS API it depends on JavaFX wrapper. Please look at it ASAP. Thanks
To make it clear ... so far 411 dups, still rising and we do not have a fix ... Patch 1 is ready to be released, but we will not do so without this bugfix ... we do not have 100% reprocase, but we are able to simulate the same problem with a little different symptoms but the same results.
Would it be possible to remove the dep on module API? Either by using reflection or just by removing the dependecy from manifest (module system is on classpath so its classes should be accessible)? I'be sleeping for 9hours now.
Integrated into 'main-silver', will be available in build *201410010001* on http://bits.netbeans.org/dev/nightly/ (upload may still be in progress) Changeset: http://hg.netbeans.org/main-silver/rev/86ff69a4de48 User: Libor Fischmeistr <lfischmeistr@netbeans.org> Log: #246971: Incorrect version of masterfs.windows after auto-updating to 8.0.1
Preferred update flag added - http://hg.netbeans.org/releases/rev/e4cdcc5048c8 Will be updated as first.
Created attachment 149660 [details] Removing dependencies of autoupdate.services on module APIs Here is a rough patch that removed dependency of autoupdate.services on org.openide.modules. As such the autoupdate.services should no longer be subject of this bug and should be updatable. The patch should not go to default branch, only as a workaround on the release80 branch. Unit tests seemed to work (well except one test) and IDE could start and enable modules. I don't have ways to do full testing here at J1, so passing back to Libor. Have to leave: I have a booth duty.

Here is the proper patch. If there is anything I can do, please tell me.
Alexis, please do not arbitrarily change resolution of the bug unless you are the developer responsible for fixing that particular issue. Thanks for your understanding.
Jirko, thank you for the comment. Anyway, this issue can be finally marked as FIXED :-)
