Description jdavidbakr 2014-05-16 20:04:27 UTC
Prior to NetBeans 8.0, the "none" project group would be a good place to go to clear out the open projects. Now, it retains its project list like any other project group. What happens, then, is that I go to the "none" group to access project files that I access too infrequently to justify a group for them, but some are still large and this causes me to have an experience like this:

1. Open up NetBeans, a very large project group is opened that I was last working on.
2. I switch to the (none) project group to open a large secondary project.
3. There is a large project in the (none) group that I have to wait to open.
4. I close this project, then open the project I need.

This seems like an unnecessary number of steps to load the project I want to work on. I would love to be able to go to an empty project group at any time, and a bonus would be to have an option for NetBeans to always open into this empty project.

See http://wiki.netbeans.org/NetBeans_80_NewAndNoteworthy#Projects and https://netbeans.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=235343. Project group (none) is now persisted. Closing as INVALID.

I disagree with the lack of a need for a non-persistent group but if that's the decision the developers want to take I can respect that.
Comment 3 jdavidbakr 2014-06-13 16:16:01 UTC
I just discovered that I can make a group that is non-persistent - I will make my own group that did what the (none) group previously did for me.
