Description Martin Fousek 2014-04-29 06:27:37 UTC
I'm getting ~15-20 spams to the issues@javaee.netbeans.org daily. :/ It's few times higher number than amount of real issues which we are getting to that mailing list. Please could you improve that? Earlier there was 2-3 spams daily which was OK. Thanks a lot in advance.
Comment 1 Jan Pirek 2014-04-29 10:02:16 UTC
hi,
only chance to bring down the spam count is to make this list 'moderated' that would mean all messages from non subscribers would go to moderation first.

Should I switch it? Note that moderation may take time as it is done by community purely on their volunteering effort.

Hmm, I don't think that it's way we should choose. It should be assigned to the owners of the NB infrastructure to improve spam filters there.
Comment 3 Jan Pirek 2014-04-29 11:14:21 UTC
true, but we escalated spam issues to kenai team dozens time already, but no real effect :( They usually reply that the mail which is delivered in the end to your @oracle.com mailbox goes through corporate spam filter and it should be caught and dumped there ....so should I just close this as wontfix? Sorry I do not have better news Martine.

As MarcoW replied to us, could you report this via SR against the particular team? I believe they could help us.
Comment 5 Martin Fousek 2014-05-12 04:54:21 UTC
Honzo did you report/escalate the issue further? I got again approx. 100 emails during 5 days into the issues@javaee.netbeans.org - only 20% were valid. It has to be annoying not only for me to go through so many spam messages.

Thanks in advance.

I confirm the same issue in win-with-netbeans@netbeans.org and au-changes@netbeans.org mailing lists.
Comment 7 Jan Pirek 2014-05-12 14:55:35 UTC
I was not able to find appropriate support queue, but here is the process how to report spam by forwarding to some monitored spam alias

http://my.oracle.com/site/pdit/businessopsit/collab/customeradvocacy/support/supportprocess/cnt1379564.htm#Spam

I will start forwarding the spam posts for issues@javaee there.

If anybody else can forward also from other lists it would be appreciated.

The link in comment #7 appears to be dead.

Because I've whitelisted my valid users, almost all of the email I receive for moderation is spam. Typical header attached.
