Immediately after uploading from the projects panel the cursor in the main editor window becomes disabled. One cannot see the cursor and typing into the window is impossible.

Quick workaround - go to another application and return.

This doesn't happen if one is uploading on save.

However this appears to appear right at the end of the http handshaking as, if one uploads, checks the results in a browser and returns quickly to the IDE the editor window can still be disabled even though the IDE appears to have completed the upload moments before.

This bug also affects my colleague's machine running 8.0 Beta under JDK 7

Might be a Mac & JDK 8 specific ... could you please try to test the same NB build on JDK 7 ? Thanks in advance.
Comment 4 Stanislav Aubrecht 2014-04-18 11:26:10 UTC
Which project, which upload?

Please provide exact steps to reproduce and reopen, thanks.

As I mentioned above, The adjacent mac to me suffers the same issue. It's running the following environment:

Product Version: NetBeans IDE 8.0 Beta (Build 201401141042)
Java: 1.7.0_51; Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM 24.51-b03
Runtime: Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 1.7.0_51-b13
System: Mac OS X version 10.9.2 running on x86_64; UTF-8; en_US (nb)
User directory: /Users/richard/Library/Application Support/NetBeans/8.0beta
Cache directory: /Users/richard/Library/Caches/NetBeans/8.0beta

It's intermittent. But here's the best attempt to reproduce: select any file or directory in any php project and select upload, complete the dialogue to let the file upload and flip over to a browser to check, once changes confirmed in browser, return to netbeans to find the editor window is disabled.

This is does not happen if you check local changes on our local server to which changes are saved directly. It appears to be bound up with the FTP process.

I have not established whether this happens on the various servers on which we maintain content. I will keep an eye open,
Comment 6 simon_vg 2014-04-28 08:34:10 UTC
Oh, and as an aside. The problem does not arise if one has the files set to upload on save. One actually has to engage with the ftp process via the project panel to invoke the bug.

PHP team please evaluate, thanks.
Comment 8 Vladimir Riha 2014-05-12 09:58:00 UTC
I've tried it couple of times with/without fullscreen mode but without any luck in reproducing. I started upload, switched to browser and later switched back with Command+Tab to IDE (once the upload finished)

Product Version: NetBeans IDE 8.0 (Build 201403101706)
Updates: NetBeans IDE is updated to version NetBeans 8.0 Patch 1.1
Java: 1.8.0_05; Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM 25.5-b02
Runtime: Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 1.8.0_05-b13
System: Mac OS X version 10.9.2 running on x86_64; UTF-8; en_US (nb)

Mysterious, I use a 2 monitor setup and normally switch between browser and IDE by clicking the window. Could that make a difference? A different means of applying focus to the IDE window?

If you use Command + Tab, does it work or not?

I guess it could depend on the _exact_ place you click in NetBeans - other places can steal focus from the editor window/component (if you click e.g. into the Project window).

Since we cannot reproduce it, let close this issue as WORKSFORME for now. Feel free to reopen if the problem still exists and you have exact steps to reproduce.

Thanks.

Apple tab does not work and nor does clicking any other area of the netbeans window.

One physically has to click into another application window and then click back into netbeans.

It may be happening to us because we always use two monitors and tend to fidget between apps while files are uploading - always by clicking because we can see the browser window and only need to click to jump across to the browser to view the results of the upload.

It's not a show stopper - but I have reopened it just to draw these facts to your attention. Please feel free to set back to worksforme.
Comment 12 Tomas Mysik 2014-07-03 13:08:44 UTC
And does it happen to you only after file upload? Or is there also any other situation in the IDE when this issue occurs? Just trying to figure out where the problem could be...

Thanks.
Comment 13 Tomas Mysik 2015-05-13 08:36:14 UTC
No response from reporter for a long time so closing as WORKSFORME. Feel free to reopen and let us know if this is the only situation where this issue happens.

@vriha: Ládo, could you please try to reproduce this issue? It seems to me that it could be a Mac specific (but I can be wrong, of course).

Thanks.

I already did, see comment #8. I'll try to get 2 monitor setup for Mac (macbook + external monitor) but I don't know if I'll succeed
