Created attachment 146513 [details] NetBeans 8.0 Installation Log file I have attempted several times to install NetBeans 8.0 (previously using NetBeans 7.3 without issues but wanted to upgrade), but the installation keeps hanging at the "Update CRC sums for update tracking files". After the 2nd time, I completely removed all installations of NetBeans (including NetBeans 7.3) and scrubbed the registry of any nbi* files. However, this proved to be useless as the installer continues to hang at the same installation point. Here are the last few entries in the installation log file (complete file attached herewith). So, now to further compound the problem, since I have uninstalled NetBeans 7.3 (which was previously working), I cannot re-install 7.3 because I cannot get it to move past this same point on the installer.
It looks like broken nbi registry. Please delete <user profile>\.nbi folded. Maybe it would be good to backup it for further analyse. Then try to install NetBeans 8.0 again. Also please remove NetBeans userdir and cachedir. Thank you
Ok, I did as you suggested. I deleted the user dir and cache dir. I did a complete purge of my system of anything related to netbeans. Then I attempted a re-install. Still fails.
I have a problem with the installation. I uninstalled the program and delete all folders and now I can not install because the installation is blocked.

In my case, I found many corrupt xml files in the VARIOUS(!) update_tracking folders in C:\Program Files\Netbeans\.... The error is at the end of file with the string : "Folder>, which is redundant as the previsous line contains <\Folder> and should have been the end of the file. PRobably a copy paste bug during production of NB 8 ? Haven't figured out the purpose of "update tracking". Anybody could explain these, please ? Note that there are also an update_tracking folder in the folder C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\NetBeans -1\8.0\ Maybe delete these user preferences as a first step?
I down loaded the archived version 8.0 and then 8.1, because I have Java v1_7_80 on my PC and I don't want to update or add Java v8. Both of these fails at exactly 20% everytime I try to install. It is not the installation software, because one of my co-workers was able to install it w/o a problem. I have tried deleting everything related to Netbeans, including both the entire .nbi folder, the Netbeans folder in c:\Program Files, and everything I could in my C:\Users\me\AppData\Local\Temp folder. I've re-booted between attempts. Everything that I have tried fails to allow an install, and it always fails with the same message: 'Installing Base IDE | Updating CRC sums for update tracking files. The installer screen also cannot be removed even though the main install process is squashed. ~msdwjj
