This Bugzilla instance is a read-only archive of historic NetBeans bug reports. To report a bug in NetBeans please follow the project's instructions for reporting issues.
This bug was originally marked as duplicate of bug 207611, that is already resolved. This bug is still valid, so this seems to be another bug, but it might be related. Build: NetBeans IDE 7.4 (Build 201310111528) VM: Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM, 24.45-b08, Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment, 1.7.0_45-b18 OS: Windows 8 User Comments: GUEST: Program would not respond. The mouse was still working but anything I clicked on did nothing. Maximum slowness yet reported was 41748 ms, average is 41748

Method o.n.m.editor.lib2.highlighting.ReadOnlyFilesHighlighting.checkFileStatus() calls FileObject.canWrite() in EDT. The slowness originates in java.io.WinNTFileSystem.checkAccess[native] (31 s), so the hard drive was probably under heavy load and the whole system was stuck. Reassigning to editor/Painting & Printing. Please evaluate it. Thank you.
This old bug may not be relevant anymore. If you can still reproduce it in 8.2 development builds please reopen this issue. Thanks for your cooperation, NetBeans IDE 8.2 Release Boss
