I am not really sure where to file this bug as the freezing happens no matter which feature I am using in netbeans 7.4. I am running netbeans on Mac OS X 10.8.5 I have Java 7u45 and Java 8 developer preview installed on the machine. 

When I installed netbeans it was launching with Java 8 and so I switched it to startup with Java 7 and and mac os x activity monitor show that it is starting with java 7.

I am new to netbeans really just evaluating and looking to learn the netbeans platform and play with Java 8. This problem is easy to reproduce on my machine let me know if you want extra log files or other things to help debug the issue.

I don't think that issue is a duplicate because the version referenced on the linked ticket is 7.3 and my bug report is for 7.4.

Plain fact is that netbeans 7.4 is freezing on mac os x mountain lion with oracle jdk 7u45

The linked issue is about problem in JDK, so it may occur in any NB version. Can you try starting IDE with older JDK (1.7.0_25)?

This old bug may not be relevant anymore. If you can still reproduce it in 8.2 development builds please reopen this issue.
