I have 2 operating systems: Win98 installed on drive F: and Win2K installed on drive E: FFJ4.0 installed and works well on Win98. After rebuting to Win2K I try to install FFJ on Win2K it ask me about path to home dir, search for JDK, ask about path to install - but don't ask about serial number. After installation when try to run FFJ he say's that serial number if invalid and don't start. Reinstallation of FFJ don't help. If I've previously remove FFJ from Win98, then it installs and run well on W2K. Looks like at installation stage under Win2K FFJ founds wrong serial number from Win98 installation. Configuration: Under Win98: JDK in F:\java\j2sdk1.4.0 FFJ installed in F:\work\rc4\inst FFJ home in F:\FFJW98home Under Win2K: JDK in E:\java\j2sdk1.4.0 FFJ in E:\work\rc4\inst FFJ home in E:\FFJW2Khome Well reproduced with FFJ4.0 rc4 installer. Workaround: Remove installation at Win98 and then install on Win2K
This is a problem with the Sun's Forte for Java installer. No registration number is required to run NetBeans. The bug has been transferred to the internal bug tracking system as #4702461. Since this is not a bug in the NB installer. I'm closing this issue as invalid.
