Sorry, what are you talking about? Can you explain step by step what needs to be done to see your problem? What does "etc" mean in the title of this issue and what does "loosing" mean? What are "desktop settings"?

When you upgrade to the new version, the placement (eg left or bottom) of the windows as Bookmarks, Favorites, Services, Files, Proyects ... are not imported.

The same happens with the tabs that were open in the older version.

Window layout isn't imported when upgrading from previous versions of NetBeans. But I suppose it could be.
