This bug was originally marked as duplicate of bug 227879, that is already resolved. This bug is still valid, so this seems to be another bug, but it might be related.

The exception shows that DomTree window TopComponentGroup cannot be found. Unfortunately, it is not clear how this can happen. Moreover, there are just 3 reports from NetBeans 7.4 and no report from NetBeans 8. Hence, I am closing this issue as non-reproducible. Feel free to reopen it if you are still able to reproduce it, but do not forgot to provide more details then.
