Using BuildExecutionSupport we can register running and finished action items but there is no way to inform the project system about items which are no more valid.

you should be able to make the execution a noop with non intrusive ui interation with the user (eg show in status bar)

This old bug may not be relevant anymore. If you can still reproduce it in 8.2 development builds please reopen this issue.
