When Glassfish4 is run from within netbeans it cannot load the Mysql connector. (I have tested it when run stand-alone and it works exactly as expected.) I've spent a day and a half searching for a work-around and I haven't been able to find one. Please add some more information - I testet just now with netbeans 7.3 and glassfish 3.1.2.2 and glassfish 4. In both cases I got the same results: With mysql-connector-java-5.1.18 manually copied into the libary directory of the application server, it works in both cases (connection pool is created and can be pinged). I the connector is not installed, it does not. This is not really surprising, as glassfish provided a mechanism for runtime description of resources (glassfish-resources.xml), but to my understanding this does not include deployment of driver files.
