Product Version = NetBeans IDE Dev (Build 201306100004) Operating System = Mac OS X version 10.8.4 running on x86_64 Java; VM; Vendor = 1.7.0_21 Runtime = Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM 23.21-b01 The solarized color scheme (http://ethanschoonover.com/solarized) seems to be very popular in the designer / html / css community. It would be nice to have NB support for that out-of-the-box.
Is that just editor color schema or the whole IDE should support it as a new look and feel?
I strongly support this proposal, but I opt for the whole look and feel (including editor). There is currently a possibility to make the editor "solarized" very easily (many people created their editor color schemes). But in my opinion it does not make sense without the whole IDE looking similarily to the editor. The reason I use the dark version of Solarized scheme is because it causes much less restrain to the eyes. Having only part of IDE looking like this (the editor) causes even greater restrain, because the rest of the windows still have white background and the surroundings of windows and menu bars also don't match.
