I am seeing almost identical behavior to the problem reported in Bug 166950, which was demoted when version 7 of NB came out. When I choose File / Print, sometimes the printer dialog box appears, but mostly I get the Print Preview dialog box. It appears blank with all but the Page Setup, Print Option, and Close buttons disabled. If I open a source file and select some part of its text, then choose File / Print, the selected text appears in the Print Preview dialog box. If I click the Print button at that point, I get taken to the printer dialog box and, from there, the selected text does print (albeit highlighted in pink).
Could you describe your system and attach NB's messages.log file? Thanks.
We tested on several machines (Linux/Windows mix) and we did not experience a problem so for now making a P3.
So closing as fixed. If the problem would reappear please reopen the issue.

Don't know why previous user changed OS to "Mac OS X." Changing it back to "Windows 7 x64."
Problem may simply have been that I had "print selected" checked and that gets you nothing when you have nothing selected. I'd say it's a bug for "print selected" to be enabled when nothing is selected (or, alternatively, for it to have effect, as opposed to printing everything), but I'll leave it to someone else to report it as such.
