I do not think we will ever do such level of persistence, leaving for WS ....
Well currently NB seems only to 'remember' it's last state when you close it 'correctly'. I don't know what Linux does differently, maybe just killing the processes? However when shutting down in linux netbeans definately does not remember it's last state.
Close NetBeans before shutting down Ubuntu and you'll get your editors restored after restart. NetBeans needs some time to exit gracefully so I guess Ubuntu just kills the process if it doesn't quit fast enough.
