Created attachment 133448 [details] add dependency dialog In "Open projects" tabs modules are sorted by time of creation (or random), which makes it really hard to use. It would be nice to have a possibility to sort modules alphabetically. Adding a query input like in the "Search" dialog would be useful.
the list is most likely in the same order as the Projects view has.
(In reply to Milos Kleint from comment #1) > the list is most likely in the same order as the Projects view has. No, the list order in Add Dependency --> Open Projects is in the order the projects were opened in the IDE ..or so it seems. To most people that will look random. In contrast the order of the projects in the Projects view is alphabetical. I was about to file a ticket on this myself, thus I fully support this ticket. It annoys me daily. In fact I can't see why we need to have it made into "a possibility" to sort the Add Dependency --> Open Projects view as the reporter says. Why not simply do it always? (meaning: I can't imagine anyone who would want to hang onto the current behaviour). A way to phrase this request in more general terms is that Add Dependency --> Open Projects view should be in same order as Projects view ... which happens to alphabetical. I'm pretty sure this is what a user will expect. I'm on NB 8.0.1.
This old bug may not be relevant anymore. If you can still reproduce it in 8.2 development builds please reopen this issue. Thanks for your cooperation, NetBeans IDE 8.2 Release Boss
