Description williamrouse 2013-04-10 01:42:19 UTC
For the last week when I start NetBeans the News and Tutorials on the "Whats New" tab gives me the message"Error while loading content". I thought this would go away but it is persistent. Anyone else having this problem or know how to rectify this. I like the daily updates around the community. The Blogs show up but not the News $ Tutorials.
Thanks now!

I'm seeing the same symptoms on NetBeans on my Mac. If it helps:

Product Version: NetBeans IDE 7.3 (Build 201302132200)
Java: 1.6.0_43; Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM 20.14-b01-447
Runtime: Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 1.6.0_43-b01-447-11M4203
System: Mac OS X version 10.8.3 running on x86_64; MacRoman; en_US (nb)

This was set for 7.4, which is the wrong version. It works in 7.4 Dev versions.

Setting back to v7.3. This is broke in 7.3.1 too.

Product Version = NetBeans IDE 7.3.1 (Build 201304162201) (#7b2099c0ac45)
Operating System = Windows 7 version 6.1 running on amd64
Java; VM; Vendor = 1.7.0_21; Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM 23.21-b01;
Oracle Corporation
Runtime = Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 1.7.0_21-b11
Java Home = C:\Developer\Java\jdk1.7.0_21\jre
System Locale; Encoding = en_US (nb); Cp1252

"Featured Demo" is broke too.
Comment 4 MackSix 2013-05-17 20:11:41 UTC
Fixed in:

Changed operating system to ALL, because, in addition to Windows 8, this bug occurred on the following operating systems:

Microsoft Windows 7 SP1 (32-bit Home Premium) Intel Core2 T5300 CPU 2Gb RAM

ubuntu 12.04 LTS (64-bit) Intel Core2 T5300 CPU 2Gb RAM

Oracle Enterprise Linux 6.2 (Kernel Linux 2.6.32.300.3.1el6uek.x86_64)
-GNOME 2.28.2, AMD Phenom II X6 1090T CPU 8Gb RAM

All with latest versions (at the time) of JDK, JRE, and Netbeans 7.3

BTW, Nice job to whoever entered the same bug and marked the one I submitted a month earlier ( Bug 229338 ) as duplicate.

Did you mean the one you submitted a month later? :)

Oops. Sorry. Dyslexia, I guess.

So, um, this bug doesn't seem to be much of a priority? Doesn't this bug present itself in the face of every user every time they start up the IDE (unless they suppress the Start Page)? Shouldn't that be reason to prioritize it?
Comment 10 Lou Dasaro 2013-05-30 05:51:11 UTC
My testing indicates this bug has been corrected at sometime prior to build 201305282301. No more error messages, and the links and demos all work. Look forward to seeing this in 7.3.1 Thanks.

Product Version: NetBeans IDE Dev (Build 201305282301)
Java: 1.7.0_17; Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM 23.7-b01
Runtime: Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 1.7.0_17-b02
System: Linux version 2.6.32-300.3.1.el6uek.x86_64 running on amd64; UTF-8; en_US (nb)

Odd it's still marked as NEW, but maybe I don't understand the procedure...

I'm just surprised it's not pushed out as a patch, given that it just looks bad. But I guess all the devs run development builds and never see it.
