Please clarify what is supposed to be restored and preferably also attach some screen shots demonstrating before/after states and reopen this issue, thanks.
Created attachment 132559 [details] Open project in 2 tab groups
I was expecting that when I go back (either reopening projects or select from project group), I would still work with the same tab group state as the project was in before it was closed. Example: Open a project, let's call it project1, open 2 files, say index.php and style.css. Right click index.php tab and select "New Document Tab Group". Now I have 2 tab groups. Then close project1 and open project2 or switch project group (File > Project Group > project2). Close project2 and open project1 again or switch project group (File > Project Group > project1). This time that 2 tab groups state I have before is not restored. I have to set it up again each time I go back to a project. Is there anyway or maybe something that I missed to retain or have my tab groupings restored when I reopen them?

Any update or help about this?
Switching project group does not restore window layout - that's by design, it's not a bug. I think there are some plugins that save/restore window layout. But you'd have to invoke their actions manually as they're not hooked into project infrastructure.
I believe Milos is working on such a feature right now, reassigning.
Nice! Looking forward to it... :)
the feature I'm working on in trunk only includes reopening the files that were part of the project group when it was last closed. it's unlikely that we would persist the window layout with the project group in any near future.
