Was this removed, why? Request to add this feature again as it allows quick understanding of called functions without leaving current file in main editor view.
It was removed in nb 7.3. You can read more in https://netbeans.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=217621
It is (was) a very helpfull window when reading foreign code. With this window less jumping around in the code was needed. Now without it time to read and understand code increased. Closing bug tickets slowed down since this window was removed. So who decided to remove this? Where was the discussion done with the users of Netbeans? I don't use Bookmarks in an Editor, so may I request to remove them just by a ticket like it was done with this feature? Bookmarks don't make sense to me on a floating thing like source code.
Hello, unfortunately you are the only user that has expressed a concern about the mentioned view. We have decided not to invest into fixing that feature since it was a) broken b) not very commonly used. It is the developer responsibility to decided what features he implements/maintains. As you rightfully say each user have different favourite features - but this one did not have many users (unlike editor bookmarks). Please don't reopen the issue unless you find someone willing to implement it. Please use mailing lists/fora for spreading the word and trying to find more people willing to support your opinion. Please check following pages for reference: https://netbeans.org/community/index.html https://netbeans.org/about/os/governance.html Best regards, David

I recently switched from v7.2 to v7.4 and also am missing this feature. I hardly ever use bookmarks (nor have I've seen people using them commonly), but the Declaration is quite useful sometimes. Removing the feature is a regression which leaves NetBeans further behind other IDEs. + for bringing it bug See: Bug 237638
